Clockwork Update March 2016 - featured in the trade magazine Cabinet Maker
Having had a busy start to 2016 we visited Clockwork’s Oxfordshire HQ this week to learn more about their latest developments.
The start of the year saw Clockwork return to the NEC for the January Furniture Show, their first time exhibiting for several years. Operations Director, Oliver Tattersall explains further, “We felt the time was right for us to return to the Furniture Show. Whilst we are continually developing our offering we have made some significant additions to our range and felt this was the perfect opportunity to exhibit, we combined this with the launch of our latest brochure, Focus 16. The exhibition enabled us to highlight our latest partnerships and for our customers to get first hand interaction with the products from the likes of Omega Motion (recliners), Kaidi (electric motors) and ADX (Bluetooth sound bar).”
Having made the decision to return, what was the verdict on how the show went for Clockwork? “We definitely made the right decision to exhibit this year, it was a great opportunity to be there alongside many of our existing customers and it also gave us valuable exposure to other key people in the furniture industry that we don’t routinely come across.”
Their new brochure Focus 16 marks something of a departure from the brochures we have seen from Clockwork in the past, the unexpected and strikingly effective imagery remains but the emphasis of the content has now shifted slightly, as Oliver tells us, “We’ve always aspired to make our brochures eye-catching, which has led us away from ‘run of the mill’ industrial catalogue styling, This allows us to have more freedom with what goes on the cover. This year was no exception and the cover image (pictured left\right) was chosen for its impact to tie in with the new theme, ‘Focus’. Whilst in the past our brochures have been near encyclopaedic, listing all the products we offer, this has become impractical now given the size of our range. We have presented a brochure that gives a more detailed insight into our supplier partnerships and our most recent designs and product additions. We have kept an overview of our essential core range of upholstery products all of which are accessible on our website in detail. As usage of the website continues to grow this allows us to give customers faster access to the most up to date information.”
The other significant development has been two new appointments, bringing greater strength and experience to their sales team. Clockwork founder and Managing Director, James Viney tells us more, “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jeremy Gilbert as Sales Director, his experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and diversify our sales operation. Likewise, with Anthony Westwood joining us in the role of Technical Sales Manager it will allow us to offer even higher levels of technical expertise and installation advice with the more complex products from our portfolio.”
Clockwork remain at the forefront of component supply to the industry and these recent investments underline their determination to move the business forward and enhance their current offering.
